Amazon Gives Back

Well if you’ve been with me for a while now, you know I’m a big fan of Amazon. All politics aside, if it makes my family’s life easier so we can focus on what really matters to us, I’m all for it. I wanted to share with you a couple of cool things that Amazon does that you might not be aware of.

First of all, have you heard of Amazon Smile? No, that’s not some Brazilian seduction technique (oh my God, was that a Dad Joke? Great, I’m making Dad Jokes now…), it’s Amazon’s charitable donation campaign. It’s actually gone on for years, but isn’t highly publicized. If you go to, instead of regular old, Amazon lets you set up a charity of your choice, and with each purchase that you make through the smile link, they will donate money to your charity. Yes, it’s a small amount, but if you shop there frequently, as they years go by, it starts to add up. It doesn’t cost you anything extra, and is a great way to help your favorite charity. My favorite part is clicking the link to see the impact I have made so far with my purchases!

Oh, but that’s not the only thing they do. Oh, no. You know those awesome boxes that arrive on your doorstep with the big Amazon smile on the side? I don’t know about you, but when I come home to an Amazon box, I feel like a kid on Christmas. Yeah, it’s a gift I bought and paid for myself, and I knew it was coming, but dang, I do love opening those boxes! Well, it turns out those boxes do more than deliver your goodies to you. They actually deliver goodies to people in need too! Fill those boxes up with anything around the house that you planned to donate (if you’re like me, you have a donation pile in the garage waiting to go to the Salvation Army that bugs your husband as it mounds up because when do we have the time to actually go to the Salvation Army?) Boom – Time Hack – put them in the Amazon box you just opened, and send it back to Amazon (the shipping is free), and they will distribute it to people in need! And here you thought they didn’t care about the community. Feel better about using Amazon for your time hacks? Good! Now go to and set up your charity!
